The easiest form of magic to master, Hedge Magic is a set of formula. Each spell to be cast has certain words and certain gestures. The words, spoken in exact syllables, draw the power together for use by the Hedge Wizard. The gestures, not as precise as the wording, shape the power into the desired form and manifest it for use. Gestures can easily change from one Hedge Wizard to the next for the same spell. In essence, Hedge Magic is the taking control of the primal magic of of Arvenfall. But it is only in a tiny amount at a time. Hedge Wizards are often amateurs who only know a few cantrips. They learn from mentors and often there will be an area with shamanistic traditions of passing the knowledge of magic hereditarily. The discovery of new spells outside of finding more teachers is kept to the few scholarly Hedge Wizards that seek magic as their occupation. Most practitioners of Hedge Magic merely use it as a means to help their community or friends. The power is drawn from Arvenfall itself. It is never much at one time, with Hedge Magic, and is simple to draw if the Hedge Wizard knows what he’s doing. Arvenfall does not begrudge Hedge Magic to anyone, no matter their means or end.
